The mountains surrounded us as we sped through the city packed in the bed of a pick-up truck. I closed my eyes and soaked in the moment. The sun was warm on my face and the wind was strong, tossing my hair in every direction. Our laughter echoed within the metal walls that encased us. We parked the truck and climbed out. The first week of ministry is always exciting but this day was different. The Lord told me to give away my key. I received this key with the prophetic word “see” during world race launch. The purpose of Keys for the Journey is to seek what the Lord wants you to understand about the word and then to give the key away when the Holy Spirit leads you. The Holy Spirit led me to give my key away to Darlene. We were immediately friends and bonded so strongly through the Holy Spirit within us. Darlene is in her late teens and has been blind a majority of her life. We asked her about her story but she was very shy and didn’t share much. Even in the shyness, her joy was radiant. We asked her to sing for us and I began to cry. I was overwhelmed with the beauty of the moment. Even though she was shy talking about herself, Darlene was bold when singing praises to the Lord. I said to her, “When I got this key, I didn’t understand what it meant. But the Lord has been speaking to me the last two months, and He is calling me to see others through His eyes. I noticed this in you. Although you do not have sight, you are still able to see others by spreading joy, kindness, and patience.” She responded with about 1,000 kisses on the cheek and the biggest smile I have ever seen.
